Are your foundations weak leading to injury?

Read why building a house is like fixing an injury!

I use an analogy with many (all) of my injured clients. If your house is built and then suddenly there is a problem with the foundations you have two options.

Option ONE: get in a qualified builder, assess the situation, develop a plan, pull it apart, fix the foundation, rebuild and find a solution so it wont happen again.

Option TWO: get a quick fix, hire a handy man with little to no qualification, patch the problem, avoid the area and hope it never happens again.

You have the same choice with injury!

You take option ONE! You see a physiotherapist, highly qualified, talk from high levels of clinical reasoning and evidence, they assess the whole situation, pull it apart and find the problem, develop a plan and rebuild from solid foundation to a solid structure. This is a solution, not a quick fix!

Or You can take option TWO, it costs less but the person is under qualified, they talk a bunch of unqualified rubbish, they patch you up, you have get your quick fix and then just hope it never happens again. If it does, patch it again and hope some more! Hope doesn’t find solutions! Here is why…

You have decided on option two, go and patch it up, feels good for a while then happens again, again and then you always seam injured, you continue the quick fix for months, years or decades, your performance is declining with each ongoing problem. Then finally you can’t perform at your best and give up because it all seams too much and your now damaged goods. Add up all the cheap short term patch up work, this is now a significant long term cost to you that you can’t put a price on. Not doing what you want and love has a price tag that is far too high.

So now option ONE is looking great yeah! Why? Because the benefit is a long-term investment in you. You have addressed the problem, you understand it, you know how to manage it, you have been given credible therapy and have found the solution to improving performance with exercise. Your empowered with the complete package and have invested in your body for the long-term enjoyment in what you love doing.

Fighting Fit Physiotherapy is an investment in solutions to a strong house!
